Ernst Wahliss was born in 1836. He was a leading retailer of porcelain and ceramics in Vienna. His Vienna store was founded in 1863. The success of his business allowed him to open another store in London.
In 1894, Ernst Wahliss decided to take over Alfred Stellmacher's factory in Turn-Teplitz (in what is now the Czech Republic). He renamed the factory Ernst Wahliss Kunst, Porzellan und Fayence Fabrik.
Ernst died in 1900. Two years later, his sons, Hans and Erich, purchased 600 molds from the Imperial and Royal Porcelain Factory in Vienna. With these molds, they began producing reproductions of Vienna porcelain.
In 1905, the company was renamed Alexandra Porcelain Works Ernst Wahliss.
In 1907, the factory was taken over by Gerhard Martin Wahliss. In 1910, the factory focused on the production of terracotta.
The factory was temporarily closed due to World War I. In 1921 it became part of Porzellanfabrik Union AG and ceased production in 1929.
