The splendid work depicts the biblical episode of the appearance of the Angel of God to the prophet Elijah in the Desert.
Elijah is tired, hungry, and thirsty, and while invoking death, he receives a visit from the Divine Messenger who brings him water and food.
The scene is particularly fascinating: the old prophet seated exhausted with his back resting against a juniper tree and his left hand supporting his head, observes a magnificent angel with outstretched wings pointing the way to God. In the upper left among the branches of the juniper, the Raven brings a hot focaccia.
The color scheme of the painting is truly remarkable with the suspended angel radiating light. In the background, a luminous landscape with the sunset on Mount Horeb.
The work is in excellent condition, already cleaned and relined, complete with a beautiful antique carved and gilded frame.
CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY WITH DETAILED SHEET OF THE PAINTING.
