The Battle of Zacatecas

The Battle of Zacatecas, also known as the Capture of Zacatecas (Toma de Zacatecas in Spanish), is an event of the Mexican Revolution, the bloodiest battle of the campaign to overthrow President Victoriano Huerta. On June 23, 1914, the División del Norte (Northern Division) led by Pancho Villa definitively defeated the federal troops of General Luis Medina Barrón, who were defending the city of Zacatecas. The great victory demoralized Huerta's supporters, leading to his resignation on July 15. Reyes Roque Roque Reyes is an internationally known Mexican artist. His paintings can be divided into two main themes: the first is the realistic representation of his culture - the Oaxacan culture of Zapotec origin - and the second a surreal and dreamlike style.
