Masturzo belongs to the 17th-century group of Neapolitan "battle painters." A student and friend of Salvator Rosa, he opens himself up to the Baroque more than his master. His realistic battles, although inspired by Rosa, are very much in tune with Borgognone while demonstrating his own personality.
