Beautiful view, oil on canvas (in a coeval wooden frame), "bird's-eye view", of one of the most characteristic ancient corners of Bologna, Piazza San Francesco. The skilled painter portrays the square from life, recreating typical atmospheres relevant to the best Venetian view painters (Canaletto, Bernardo Bellotto, Guardi, etc.). A curious detail: the artist portrays the figures dressed in typically nineteenth-century clothes, even though the work dates back to his time, i.e. 1930.
