The foreground is characterized by some ruined architectures recalling the glories of classicism: an imposing column surmounted by a Doric-style capital is flanked by a beautiful sculpture of a goddess. At the center of the scene, a knight on horseback watches the arrival of a vessel and other boats with figures.
