The antique paintings of flowers category offers an oil painting on canvas from the late nineteenth century.
This is a flower painting from the late 19th century, in first canvas and frame of the period. The painting is signed in the lower left J. Stappers.
Stappers Julien is a Belgian painter born in 1875 and died in 1960, he mainly painted flowers and still lifes.
The still life painting with flowers depicts three vases, in which bouquets of flowers are placed, in the foreground are collected asters with magnificent colors.
In the background, the so-called "Pope's Medallions" have been painted, i.e. the Lunaria which when dry takes on a silvery color.
It should be noted that the oil painting has a gilded frame in pure gold leaf from the 19th century.
