Paris Manufacture. Pair of Empire amphora vases  Translated
Description:
Rare pair of Empire vases, from the early 19th century. Parisian Manufacture. Polychrome porcelain, biscuit, and gold leaf. A rare type, due to the particular nature of the biscuit friezes depicting swans and cupids. On the front, reserves: one featuring the portrait of a young peasant boy clutching a garland of roses, a clear allusion to an offer of love, the other of a peasant girl. The clothing and hairstyles reveal the idealization of the characters, far removed from the rural reality of the time, and still inspired by the bucolic eighteenth-century atmosphere of nobility parties disguised as peasant children. On the back, unusual phytoform motifs with a branch from which fruits hang, made in worked gold leaf playing on shiny and opaque effects. Marbled base resting on small feline paws. The execution of the paintings is impeccable, as is the exceptional plasticity of the vases. Measurements cm h. 37x18x14  Translated
