LEONE PANCALDI - Informal Landscape  Translated
Dimensions: : 90 cm,: 100 cm
Description:
"Informal Landscape", oil on canvas from the second half of the 1950s by LEONE PANCALDI (1915-1995), Italian architect and painter. Leone Pancaldi attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in the 1930s. As a young boy, he apprenticed as a draftsman in a mechanical company and in some architectural firms. After leaving the Academy, he taught drawing and painting in a private school. He then enrolled in the School of Architecture at the University of Florence, where he graduated with Adalberto Libera, a well-known Italian representative of rationalist and "modern" architecture. In 1945 Leone Pancaldi resumed teaching and painting and joined the reconstruction efforts. In that climate he participated in the design of a series of exhibitions of ancient art, organized by the art historian Cesare Gnudi, which aimed to re-evaluate the important artistic tradition that had characterized Bologna and its region since the seventeenth century. The staging of the exhibitions, and the teamwork with Cesare Gnudi and Andrea Emiliani, made Leone Pancaldi one of the most famous museum architects in Italy. In the following years, the work for the renovation of the National Art Gallery of Bologna would bring further fame to Leone Pancaldi as a museum architect. Oil on canvas.
