Madonna with Child, Saint Anne, and Saint John the Baptist --------
Lombard School, late 16th century --------
Oil on canvas --------
Oil painting on canvas of excellent quality with evident Renaissance characteristics. ---------------
The composition is solemn and perfectly balanced in the arrangement of the figures. ---------------
One is drawn into the scene by the inviting gaze of the Virgin, directed with pride towards the viewers, as she holds the Child standing on her knees.
The presence of Saint Anne is discreet and in profile but very significant, as she rests her hand on the shoulders of the little Saint John the Baptist.
The painting is in excellent condition, cleaned and professionally relined.
The tabernacle frame, painted in polychrome, was handcrafted and, although not antique, perfectly complements the canvas.
