White marble sculpture of a Roman emperor. Italian manufacture from the Grand Tour period, first half of the 19th century.  Translated
Dimensions: : 40 cm
Description:
Beautiful white marble sculpture of an emperor or famous legionary from ancient Rome. Era: first half of the 19th century. Artistic products of this kind were produced during the Grand Tour era, in which adventurous and refined French, English, and German figures ventured into the Italian peninsula out of a hunger for artistic and scenic beauty, and to broaden their perspectives on classical culture and the ancient arts of Italian cities. 40 cm in height. The object has suffered a visible blow to the center of the shield, which was superficially restored in the 20th century. A new restoration intervention would make the defect almost invisible. We attach a historical certificate of guarantee to the sale.  Translated
