SAINT CHARLES BORROMEO IN PRAYER BEFORE THE CRUCIFIX
Autographed work by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri known as GUERCINO (Cento, 1591 - Bologna, 1666)
Expertise by Prof. Maurizio Marini
Oil on canvas within a gilded wooden frame.
The work, which the Palazzo del Buon Signore gallery is particularly proud to present to the national and international public of ancient art enthusiasts, is of absolute museum value. As highlighted by the careful expertise of Prof. Maurizio Marini of Rome, drawing inspiration from the in-depth research of Prof. D. Mahon, considered the greatest recognized expert of the Master of Cento, the painting must be considered an autograph by Guercino (Cento 1591 - Bologna 1666).
Guercino, along with Caravaggio, Guido Reni, and Annibale Carracci, forms the group of the most important Italian painters of the 17th-century Baroque period, and with Rembrandt and Rubens, the most distinguished Europeans of the period.
In this regard, please see the aforementioned expertise of Prof. Marini enclosed here.
