Giancarlo Dughetti (Florence, March 10, 1931 – Vignola, January 16, 1986)
Elder brother of the engraver Roberto Dughetti, he was a pupil of Pietro Annigoni.
In 1954 he made his debut with his first solo exhibition as a miniaturist at the Lyceum in Florence. In 1962 he married Anna Romagnoli. From those years he began to create miniature and pastel portraits of well-known Italian and foreign personalities. He held exhibitions in New York, London, New Zealand and Australia. In Italy he exhibited in Florence, Milan, Rome, Pisa, Verona, Mestre and Montecatini Terme. Between 1979 and 1980, commissioned by the Camerata dei Poeti of Florence, presided over by Adolfo Oxilia, he carried out studies in the Vatican for a Portrait of Pope Wojtyla made the following year in an ivory miniature kept in the Pontifical Collections at the Vatican Palaces.
A youthful self-portrait of him (1954) is kept at the Uffizi.
