"River Landscape with Shepherds"
"Coastal Landscape with Figures"
Giuseppe Zais (Agordo 1709- Treviso 1784)
Tempera on panel
Mid-18th century period
Measurements: panels 21 x 26 cm, frames 38 x 43 cm
The paintings are in excellent condition.
The beautiful gilded contemporary frames significantly enhance the two panels, providing light and volume.
These two small jewels, painted in tempera on panel, are characteristic of the most refined 18th-century Venetian school.
They exhibit all the stylistic and compositional features of the works of the master Giuseppe Zais (Agordo 1709 - Treviso 1784) and are probably two designs for large-scale paintings executed in his workshop.
The lightness and luminosity of the two small landscapes are remarkable, and the painting technique is evidently of an excellent level.
The perfect depiction of details in such a reduced space denotes an excellent miniaturist skill, and the perfect balance of the compositions makes the two works extremely pleasant.
