Omar Ronda (1947-2017) was one of the founders of the Cracking Art movement: in 1993, artists, poets and musicians joined his philosophy and with them he organized several exhibitions under the name Agravitazionale and later Cracking Art.
The artist began his creative activity in the years of maximum expression of Pop Art, participating in some local group exhibitions and regional and national painting competitions. In 1965/1966 he won two very important awards for him in Santhià and Borgo Dale, in Piedmont, where he was selected by juries composed of the director Maurizio Corgnati and the writers Carlo Fruttero and Franco Lucentini.
In the following years he developed a personal art that takes from Pop Art the popularity, massification and icons, including Marilyn Monroe who is reproduced in the work we see, but according to the characteristic that specifically identifies the artist: the "freezing" of popular icons in in a colorful background, to create consciously exaggerated and kitsch works. His "glazed" works under a thick layer of resin (works "frozen" as he called them) are irreverent, crazy, very colorful, characterized by an exasperated explosive and provocative artificiality, inspired by the idea of ??a nature that is now inevitably artificial, but which contaminates every image and icon of today's society and with which each of us must come to terms.
