Mixed media with pencil, charcoal, pen and watercolor ink, colored tempera, wax crayons and white highlights on cardboard, dimensions cm. 50 x 70, signature on the bottom right and date 1966.
The original composition captures the moment of the "pickup" between one of the "available" women who station themselves near a bridge, and a potential client in a car; inside the large metropolis that towers with skyscrapers in the background, the human relationship is all in the contact between the uninhibited gaze of the woman, and the hypnotized gaze of the man who nervously clutches his hands on the steering wheel.
Alfredo D'angelo (Catania 1903 – Milan 1986) was a brilliant and eclectic artist, a unique figure of a painter who was highly appreciated in his adopted city (Milan) and winner of numerous painting awards.
