Exceptional polychrome wooden sculpture of rare harmony and finesse, both for the anatomical detail and for the dynamic plasticism typical of the Renaissance. The colors are still the originals, with signs, in some parts, of ancient cleaning attempts.
The skilled and anonymous sculptor, who is perhaps also the painter of the sculpture, has given life to a young Madonna dressed in a dress characterized by splendid draperies that envelop her figure, enhanced by a sweet face framed by her hair gathered and protected within a white veil held by a circle. This reflects, as is traditional, the typical fashion of women in the 16th century. On her left hand she holds the Child, lightly resting on the Mother's right hand. The Child presents a bunch of grapes, a sign of abundance and prosperity.
A precious and fascinating work that transcends time and allows us to receive the unrepeatable artistic dream of the Italian Renaissance.
