Vittorio Amedeo Cignaroli and Angelo Cignaroli (Turin, 1730-1800; Turin, 1767-1841/1842) - Waterfall of the Rio Claretto near Novalesa SOLD  Translated
Description:
Vittorio Amedeo Cignaroli and Angelo Cignaroli (Turin, 1730-1800; Turin, 1767-1841/1842) Waterfall of the Rio Claretto near Novalesa, circa 1795 Oil on canvas, 47.5 x 69 cm. SOLD The painting is highly representative of the late period in Vittorio Amedeo Cignaroli's painting, when the now elderly artist collaborated with his son Angelo and created landscapes that were decidedly more realistic than his usual styles. The painter was born in Turin on April 15, 1730, within a family of Veronese origin, which had important artists active since the seventeenth century; his father Scipione, a native of Milan, was a famous landscape painter, active for the Savoy court since the beginning of the eighteenth century. The young Vittorio Amedeo certainly received a first basic training from his father, who however died in 1745, when Vittorio Amedeo was only fifteen years old; his true inclination therefore matured without the guidance and support of his father, even if the latter strongly influenced his early works...
