Extremely rare miniature bronze clock. This extremely rare and refined miniature pendulum clock of the "Zeppler" type represents a Romanesque-Gothic Viennese church dating back to 1158, called "Maria am Gestade" (Mary by the Shore). The clock depicts the exterior facade of the church with its tracery spires and, in its lower part, the high altar with the Madonna enthroned in the center and Saints Nicholas and John the Baptist on the sides. The tiny and complex, perfectly working mechanism, characterized by a "cow tail" pendulum, is operated by a silent butterfly rod. A rare example of ancient and high Viennese watchmaking tradition of the 18th century, which extended not only to master clockmakers but also to high prelates, such as Brother Aurelio of S. Daniele. His is the machine and his is the chiseled bronze sculpted in high relief. A unique piece of particular significance for the exceptional quality of its miniature detail. The clock is housed in a carved and worked wooden chest, of the same period, with a typical Baroque style and authentic Mecca lacquer. Opening the two doors reveals the clock's world illuminated by a candle and a small urn containing the winding keys. Marian decorations and heraldic emblem. The combination of these two precious objects makes the work highly refined and evocative. Austria - Vienna 1770 Clock dimensions: height 20.5 cm, width 5.5 cm, depth 4 cm.
