THE PAINTING HAS AN OLD EXPERTISE ATTRIBUTING IT TO: Francesco Vecellio (Pieve di Cadore c. 1475 - c. 1560) - Musician Angel oil painting on canvas Dimensions: canvas 110x87cm Written expertise: Prof. Emilio Negro Francesco, born possibly in 1475, belonged to the Vecellio family. He was probably the elder brother of Titian and worked mainly in Cadore between 1520 and 1530. After a military career, in 1524 he is documented painting an altarpiece for the church of the Difesa, in San Vito di Cadore. Later, he painted a polyptych in Candide and the organ shutters of the church of San Salvatore in Venice. Francesco lived in Venice at least until 1550, and only in the last decade of his life did he move back to Cadore, where he engaged in politics and administration and where he died in 1560.
