PAINTING WITH BATTLE SCENE LATE 18TH CENTURY
Description:
Oil painting on canvas, mounted in a carved and gilded wooden frame, decorated with geometric and floral motifs. At the center, the scene depicts a battle, with two main figures confronting each other, brandishing swords above two horses; at their feet lies a frightened figure, stretched out on the ground, while on the left side, a third combatant has fallen along with his horse. In the background, other figures engaged in the battle can be glimpsed. The composition is distinguished by great realism, typical of the late Baroque style, with a skillful use of chiaroscuro and a very fine detailed rendering. At the bottom, the signature of the Viennese painter Karl Ludwig Reuling is present, accompanied by the date 1765, thus attributing this work to the second half of the 18th century.
