Elegant, original, and useful oval English gate-leg coffee table in oak with bobbin legs. These were the typical small tables used by the English to serve afternoon tea. The tabletop is divided into three parts: a central fixed section supported by four legs and two drop leaves that, when raised, are supported by the typical "gate-leg" legs that pivot on pins. When the drop leaves are lowered, the feet supporting them fit perfectly into the stretchers. Very interesting for its versatility, modern in its space-saving use! Original patina. Gate-leg tables and coffee tables entered English furniture design as early as the 16th century, winning the preference of the British public. They are very linear and sober pieces of furniture; the leg structure, however, changes according to fashion and ends up characterizing the entire table.
