Carrara Marble Mortar, Late 17th Century
Description:
Refined medium-sized mortar, finely carved from white Carrara marble, used in antiquity in the kitchen or pharmacy. The mortar has a tapered shape towards the bottom, with a lobed rim, characterized by four protrusions. The latter were useful and used to facilitate grip during crushing and to empty the contents. It is an object of great taste and refinement, capable of lending a touch of antiquity to any environment. Tuscan manufacture from the late 17th century.
