This exquisite Venetian view is an autograph work by the Ferrarese painter Giuseppe Coen, a talented and sought-after vedutista who rarely appears on the antiques market.
The canvas excellently depicts a wide panorama of the Grand Canal crossed by the superb silhouette of the Rialto Bridge. On either side of the bridge, on the two banks of the canal, stand the famous palaces of the city, meticulously described with extreme skill in all their architectural details, some in full light and others in shadow.
The luminescent green hue of the canal waters, in contrast with the splendid blue sky, is remarkable.
The Author's great pictorial skills are evident both in the depiction of the buildings and in the rendering of the figures on the typical boats.
It is a splendid 19th-century canvas that, in addition to standing out for the evident beauty of the subject, masterfully executed, is distinguished by its rarity and is proposed not only as an excellent furnishing but also as a sound investment.
In fact, Coen's works achieve excellent auction results and are particularly appreciated by collectors of 19th-century painting.
