Description:
Oil painting on canvas depicting a still life with floral arrangement and fruit, dating back to the 1950s of the 20th century.
The work is set on a molded dark wood support, on which is placed a white ceramic vase with cabochon decorations and phytomorphic motifs in cobalt blue tones. Inside the container, a bouquet composed of open and budding roses is arranged, alternating in shades of pure white and deep pink. The floral arrangement follows a soft pyramidal scheme, enriched by dark leafy elements emerging from the neutral and uniformly desaturated background.
At the base of the vase, on the left side of the surface, there is a finely detailed portion of fruit. A dense bunch of white grapes can be distinguished, whose berries feature studied highlights to render the effect of transparency and sphericity, flanked by some purplish plums placed in the foreground. A leafy vine extends towards the lower right edge, balancing the volumetric mass of the fruit.
The pictorial execution is characterized by a fluid application but attentive to the material rendering of the petals and the fruit's skin. The work is enclosed within a contemporary carved and gilded wooden frame, defined by scotia molding profiles and relief decorations with acanthus leaf motifs at the corners and centers.
