Russian manufacture (19th-20th century) - Young man with samovar.
Description:
Russian manufacture (19th-20th century) - Young man with samovar. 6 x 6 x h 15 cm the sculpture, 17 x 12 x h 20 cm the box. Full figure in various marbles and hard stones, within an exhibition case. The sculpture depicts a young man in traditional costume, holding a gilded metal samovar with both hands. The figure is entirely made of marbles and hard stones of different colors, skillfully assembled to render the different elements of clothing and complexion: the face and hands in light stone, the tunic and trousers in veined green marble, the footwear in red stone. The work is inspired by the taste for the famous hard stone figures created by the Fabergé house between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a genre that had great success in Russian stone production with the depiction of popular types and traditional crafts, often embellished with gilded metal elements.
