Polychrome terracotta sculpture, round in shape, depicting the Madonna and Child. On a blue background, representing the sky, fly five small cherubs with colored wings and pleasant features. In the center, a haughty but sweet Madonna, dressed in the classic colors of red and blue, delicately holds the Child, resting him on her lap and embracing him lovingly with her hands. The Child, dressed in a white tunic, rests his cheek against his Mother's, and with his right hand plays with the Madonna's hair. The pleasing representation, of absolutely classical formation, reveals, thanks to the range and brilliance of the colors used, the attitudes and features depicted, a clear "modern" and de-dramatizing interpretation of the traditional subject of Christian iconography.
