LOUIS XV GILDED WOOD CONSOLE, MID-18TH CENTURY
Description:
Refined console in carved and finely leaf-gold gilded wood, with a carved wood top also painted in lean tempera in shades of brown, yellow, and black. The console has a compact and elegant shape, embellished with delicate carved phytomorphic and geometric volutes, typical of the Louis XV style. At the base, the volutes connect in the center to form a shell. The top is also shaped and painted to resemble marble, recalling yellow Siena marble with ochre-brown tones and black veining, adding further refinement to the whole. This is a console of great taste and refinement, capable of adding a touch of class and antiquity to any setting. Tuscan craftsmanship, Louis XV period, around the mid-18th century.
