Analytical Description
The work depicts a standing female figure, of classical iconography, integrated into a complex composition that incorporates vegetal and symbolic elements. The figure, characterized by a richly worked chignon hairstyle, wears a robe with fluid folds, modeled to follow the natural grain of the stone. On the left side (from the viewer's perspective), the figure is flanked by a stepped structure supporting a potted bonsai, rendered with meticulous engraved details. Beside it, a disc-shaped iconographic element, interpretable as a ritual mirror or a parade fan, features a refined engraved decoration depicting phytomorphic motifs (bamboo), executed with a confident stroke.
Stylistic Analysis and Period
Although the production of hardstone carvings is a millennial tradition, the analysis of the sculptural elements suggests a dating towards the early 20th century (Republican period).
