Ebonized wood table clock - Northern Europe - 18th Century
Description:
Refined table or "mantle" clock, characterized by a classic style that recalls the tradition of high-antique European watchmaking, dating back to the 18th century. Dial and Mechanism: The dial is made of embossed brass, typical of the period, with a floral/vegetal decorative motif surrounding the ring of Roman numerals for the hours and the external Arabic minute track. A notable detail is the small upper secondary dial, where the inscription "Sonat" / "Silet" is clearly legible, a function that allowed the chime to be excluded or activated. Case and Structure: The case is made of ebonized wood, with an austere and solemn line. The clock is supported by four important volute feet in gilded wood, characterized by rich carving that elongates its form and lends it aesthetic value. Visible Mechanics: The back of the clock reveals the heart of the pendulum mechanism, with the two chime bells and visible brass plates, a sign of quality craftsmanship. Dimensions: 36 x 16 cm, height 45 cm. A regular certificate of authenticity with photos will be issued. We assure a response to your emails within 24 hours.
