Louis XV Chest of Drawers - Paris
Description:
Important and magnificent Louis XV chest of drawers made in Paris around the mid-18th century, bearing the stamp and signature of the master cabinetmaker Jean Baptiste Tuart.
The piece, of extraordinary quality of execution, is veneered in precious rosewood and amaranth, with elegant reserved motifs and herringbone grain patterns. The mercury-gilded bronze applications, finely chiseled, are very rich, embellishing the uprights, handles, and shaped profiles, giving the furniture an elegance typical of great Parisian cabinetmaking of the 18th century.
The original breccia marble top with warm tones completes the sumptuous harmony of the ensemble.
An eminent example of French mastery of the era, this chest of drawers combines the refinement of proportions with the decorative splendor typical of the rocaille taste, ranking among the masterpieces of collectible cabinetmaking.
