Splendid Dutch Marquetry Trumeau - 19th Century
Refined two-body cabinet of Dutch manufacture from the 19th century, a superb example of continental cabinetmaking entirely enriched with rich floral marquetry on a light walnut background.
Key Features:
* Lower Body: Curved and bombé front in Baroque style with 5 drawers (two upper side-by-side and three lower) enriched with elegant chased bronze handles and escutcheons. Rests on solid, ebonized, shaped shelf feet.
* Upper Body: "Gendarme's hat" shaped crest topped by a central carved volute crest. Features a glass door and sides. The interior is elegantly lined with golden damask fabric with classic motifs, with glass display shelves.
* The Marquetry: Dense decoration in precious woods and fruitwoods depicting bouquets in vases, floral garlands, exotic birds, and butterflies in the typical manner of Dutch cabinetmaking. Contrasting geometric profiling perfectly outlines each element.
