Walnut Trumeau with Maple Inlays, Piedmont, 20th Century

Walnut trumeau of Piedmontese manufacture, characterized by an elegant fusion of antique and 20th-century elements. The drop-front base is antique and features maple inlays that were added later, further enhancing its charm. The upper section, dating from the 20th century, is equipped with a pair of paneled and inlaid doors with maple volute framing, a motif that is harmoniously repeated across the entire surface of the piece. A central inlay in various woods depicts a pastoral scene with a lady and a knight, a theme that is also found on the central drop-front door. This door, once opened, reveals an internal compartment with five drawers and an open niche. The base is completed by a pair of drawers and pull-out shelves that support the drop-front door, while the curved feet and worked bronze escutcheons and handles add a touch of sophistication.
