Important Louis XIV torchere in burnished and gilded copper, richly embossed, Venice early 18th century
Description:
Important Venetian torchere in burnished and gilded copper, made in the early 18th century and attributable to the full Louis XIV period. The work features a turned structure of great vertical development (h. 190 cm), articulated into superimposed elements and richly decorated with embossing and engraving. The surface, treated with burnishing and fire gilding, highlights the quality of the lagoon craftsmanship, characterized by a plastic taste and an ornamental rendering of strong visual impact. The torchere belongs to the type of lighting floor lamps intended for Venetian aristocratic interiors, where gilded copper was a valid alternative to the more expensive French bronzes. The state of conservation is excellent, with structural integrity and uniformity of the original finishes. The work is distinguished by its monumentality, the refinement of the decorative repertoire, and its full adherence to the late Baroque models prevalent in Venice in the early 18th century. Height 190 cm Each item from our Gallery is sold with a certificate of authenticity issued by an expert of the Court and the Chamber of Commerce of Genoa.
