Pair of oil on canvas paintings depicting battles, 17th century

Pair of oil on canvas paintings depicting "Battle Scenes". The author describes the dramatic moments of battle in detail, featuring knights with contorted figures of white and black horses, and close-quarters duels in the foreground. The paintings are currently under study, but an initial examination leads us to attribute them to the renowned painter Jacques Courtois, known as "Il Borgognone" (1621-1676), one of the most important battle painters of the 17th century. The paintings are in a good state of preservation. Upon the buyer's request, they can be lightly cleaned. The canvas has an old relining and is adorned with a beautiful carved, gilded (using 'meca' technique), antique, and likely contemporary frame. Without the frame, they measure 28 cm x 34 cm; with the frame, they measure 44 cm x 37 cm. As with all our items, they are sold with a legally compliant certificate of authenticity, stamped and signed, and can be shipped throughout Italy with maximum security.
