Vittorio Emanuele Bressanin (Musile di Piave 1860 – Venice 1941) - Interior with a gallant scene.
Description:
Vittorio Emanuele Bressanin (Musile di Piave 1860 – Venice 1941) - Interior with a gallant scene. 36 x 46 cm (unframed) – 51 x 61 cm (framed). Oil on panel, in a wooden frame. Artwork signed and dated lower right: "V. Bressanin 1940". Vittorio Emanuele Bressanin is among the most appreciated Venetian painters straddling the late 19th and early 20th centuries, trained at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts and active in national and international exhibitions. His production is characterized by genre scenes with a Rococo flavor, aristocratic interiors, and historical subjects treated with compositional elegance and technical mastery. The painting depicts a stately interior with two figures in 18th-century costume: a lady in a white dress and a seated gentleman observing her, in an atmosphere of gallant conversation. The loose brushwork and warm color palette (dominated by ochre, ivory, and gold) recall the tradition of Venetian genre painting, reinterpreted with the retrospective taste typical of late Italian eclecticism. The work is dated 1940, a testament to the author's stylistic consistency even in the final years of his activity. Condition report: Good condition of the painted surface.
