Italian sculptor (17th-18th century) - Triton blowing a shell.
Description:
Italian sculptor (17th-18th century) - Triton blowing a shell. 22 x 22 x h 51 cm. Full patinated bronze figure on a carved and gilded rocaille wooden base. The triton is depicted in an upright and dynamic pose, in the act of blowing a seashell. The bronze casting is high quality, with accurate rendering of anatomy and decorative details. The carved wooden base with rocaille motifs, gilded with leaf, completes the composition, giving the ensemble an ornamental character typical of Italian production between the 17th and 18th centuries. Objects of this type were intended to furnish studies, reception rooms, and libraries of cultured patrons, where the mythological subject constituted a reference to classical tradition and antiquity. Condition report: Good general state of preservation. The bronze patina shows natural oxidation over time. The gilded wooden base shows wear and signs of age on the gilding. All shipments within the EU are free and professionally packed. This item is sold with a legally valid certificate of authenticity. Further details on the condition report are available upon request.
