Louis XV Chest of Drawers - Paris
Description:
Important and magnificent Louis XV chest of drawers made in Paris around the mid-18th century, bearing the stamp and signature of the master cabinetmaker Gian Baptiste Tuart.
The piece, of extraordinary quality of execution, is veneered in precious rosewood and kingwood, with elegant reserve motifs and herringbone grain patterns. The finely chased mercury-gilded bronze applications are very rich, adorning the uprights, handles, and shaped profiles, lending the furniture an elegance typical of great Parisian cabinetmaking of the 18th century.
The original breccia marble top in warm tones completes the sumptuous harmony of the whole.
