Rare fireplace in absolute black marble from Belgium, early 1800s, France. Late Empire transitional style, Charles X period. Noteworthy are the carvings on the feet and on the two columns, enriched with acanthus leaves and volutes on the sides. The marble surround may show minor chips or dullness caused by time; the surround needs cleaning to remove old plaster residue.
