Description:
Fir wood chest, entirely painted and dated on the front to the year 1773. The piece of furniture has a rectangular structure with an overhanging opening lid, characterized by pronounced perimeter moldings and geometric framing on the top surface.
The front facade is tripartite by molded vertical uprights, which define three large rectangular panels. Inside the lateral panels, the dating is prominently displayed divided into two parts: the figures "17" on the left and "73" on the right, made with a light pigment on neutral, sanded backgrounds. The central and lateral panels are bordered by wide perimeter bands of dark blue-green hue, enriched with a serial decoration of impressed or embossed scrollwork.
The central panel houses a shaped wrought iron escutcheon, contemporary to its construction, complete with its original ring key. The sides of the chest faithfully reproduce the decorative scheme of the front, featuring a single large light rectangular panel framed by the same dark band with impressed motifs. The surface finish testifies to the preservation of the original polychromy, marked by a natural patina of use.
