At the base are depicted a helmet, a shield with a rampant lion, halberds, and other chivalric-inspired weapons, which give the ensemble a strong neo-medieval character. The lower double-tray allows for placing the watch chain or small desk accessories. An object of great decorative impact, it testifies to the historicist taste prevalent between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when the watch stand was an indispensable accessory in studies and bourgeois settings.
