STIP259 - Lacquered wood wall cabinet, 18th century, dimensions W 110 x H 253 cm
Description:
STIP259 - Lacquered wood wall cabinet.
It features a continuous hand-painted decoration on a grey-green background, structured according to a strict rhomboid geometric pattern.
Within each compartment, stylized motifs of clear symbolic and ornamental derivation alternate: elegant birds with an archaic profile, vegetal elements, pomegranates, and stylized flowers, arranged
in a rhythmic composition that generates a refined textile effect.
Particularly interesting is the recurring presence of the pomegranate, an ancient symbol of prosperity, abundance, and fertility, here associated with stylized bird figures that lend vibrancy and lightness to the whole.
The surface retains an extraordinarily evocative patina, marked by the passage of time and natural wear, which have given the decoration a soft and layered appearance.
Simple back with white lacquer.
