The Baptism of Christ, oil on canvas, 18th century The work is attributed to a follower of Francesco dal Ponte the Younger, known as ‘il Bassano’ (Bassano 1549 – Venice 1592). Dimensions: 86 x 154 / 66.5 x 134 cm. In excellent condition; restoration and attribution carried out in 2010 by the Lo Sardo Art Studio. https://www.bibliotecasanbernardino.it/opera-darte/battesimo-di-cristo/, where there are references to the figure of Christ; the artist may have been a painter from Friuli or Trieste. The frame is not contemporary; it dates from the early 20th century, but is of good quality and suits the painting well. The condition of both the painting and the frame is excellent.
