Pair of decorative tiles - Richard Ginori
Description:
Pair of square earthenware decorative tiles decorated with depictions of a rooster on a pile of eggs and a goose in flight. The design is achieved by engraving the contours into the ceramic paste, subsequently painted with glossy monochrome glazes (in shades of white, blue, and red in one example, white, green, and yellow in the other) with a sharp contrast between the contour lines and the chromatic fields reminiscent of cloisonné work.
The frames are made of wood, decorated with silver leaf and burin engravings.
