Pair of solid wood tables with veneered and inlaid tops, Tuscany, early 18th century Dimensions: cm H 75 x W 143 x D 72 Price: strictly confidential object accompanied by our certificate of authenticity and CITES certificate (attached at the bottom of the page) This elegant pair of tables was made in the Tuscan area in the early decades of the 18th century. The rectangular tops are veneered and inlaid with thin ivory marquetry that designs an articulated geometric motif of concentric rectangles and elongated rhombuses, with a very strong and decorative graphic effect. Each table rests on two robust, carved and ebonized lacquered solid wood supports shaped "lyre-style", with an almost bronze effect, characterized by flowing and graceful lines that echo the profile of the ancient musical instrument. The four feet end in an inward-facing spiral, which lightens the silhouette while ensuring excellent stability. The legs are connected to the top by curvilinear "saettes" in carved wood, which serve a dual function: structural stability and a refined decorative element. These saettes differ slightly from each other between the two tables. It is particularly valuable that the tables have come down to us as a pair: they can be used together as consoles or individually as center tables. The ebonized finish, in contrast to the warm tone of the ivory marquetry, gives the ensemble an antique charm, particularly suitable for pairing with modern furnishings.
