ANTIQUE PAINTINGS LAKESIDE LANDSCAPE, OIL ON CANVAS, ART NOUVEAU, EARLY 20TH CENTURY (QP747)
Description:
The category Antique Paintings with Landscapes offers an Oil on Canvas painting from the early 20th century depicting a lakeside landscape immersed in a poetic and silent atmosphere. The composition features a calm body of water that delicately reflects the autumnal foliage of the trees arranged along the banks. The colors are soft and harmonious: pearly blues, muted pinks, greens, and golden ochres, applied with light and vibrant brushstrokes, typical of French landscape painting in a Post-Impressionist style. The rendering of the reflections on the water demonstrates remarkable luminosity and great technical mastery. The atmosphere is intimate and contemplative, almost suspended in time, qualities that make this painting particularly appreciated by collectors of 20th-century French art. The antique painting is signed at the bottom right by N. Ancelme, a French painter of portraits, but especially specialized in landscapes. Narcisse Ancelme (1872-1938), was born in Pillon, in the Meuse department (Lorraine, France), and trained as an artist under masters such as Jules Adler and Dupuy. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Ancelme was active in the official French art scene, participating in various exhibitions and salons: Salon des Indépendants (Exhibitions without a jury in Paris) in 1907 and 1909. Salon des Artistes Français between 1922 and 1929, where he submitted works such as "Le lac en automne" and other landscapes. The oil painting is framed with a beautiful, carved gilded wooden frame, which enhances the artwork and is from the same period as the painting. The frame and the antique canvas have been carefully and professionally restored. YOUTUBE VIDEO: https://youtu.be/SQC-x0_r4Bs Bibliography: E. Bénézit.
