His artistic research is distinguished by the innovative use of matter, which becomes the central element of the work. Famous for his Canvases and Sacks, Burri experimented with unusual materials such as jute, wood, iron, and tar, transforming them into powerful expressive tools. In the 1960s, he created the famous Plastics, obtained through the combustion and deformation of plastic material, creating surfaces rich in tension and visual suggestion. Among his best-known works are also the Cretti, characterized by large surfaces marked by deep fractures that evoke arid and natural landscapes. With his innovative language, Burri profoundly influenced the development of international contemporary art.
