French Louis Philippe style blackened wood shelf, mid-19th century

Elegant French shelf from the second half of the 19th century, in Louis Philippe style, made of blackened wood. The piece of furniture is structured on four rectangular levels, including three upper open shelves intended for display. The shelves are supported and connected by finely turned vertical uprights in the shape of a baluster or 'spool', adding rhythm and refinement to the whole.
