Elegant Art Deco sideboard produced in Italy in the early 1940s, attributable to the design of Osvaldo Borsani.
The attribution is supported by period references and by strong stylistic similarities with documented sideboards by the famous Italian designer, particularly in the architectural structure, rounded sides, elongated handles, raised base and refined decorative details.
The piece is distinguished by a sophisticated combination of dark exotic wood veneer, ebonized black details and parchment-covered central fronts. The original black opaline glass top beautifully completes the composition, adding depth and elegance to the glossy surface. Small signs of age visible on the glass testify to its authenticity and original character.
The sideboard features two large lateral doors, each opening to reveal practical internal shelves. The central section includes two drawers and, above them, a refined open compartment originally conceived as a bar area. This space can still be used today as a charming cocktail corner for bottles and glasses, or simply as an additional storage area according to one’s needs.
The long vertical handles, crafted in solid dark exotic wood, enhance the rhythm of the front, while the black ebonized profiles and the decorative metal trims on the legs add a precise and luxurious Art Deco accent. The interiors are finished in walnut, confirming the high quality of Italian cabinetmaking of the period.
A remarkable piece of Italian Art Deco design, combining elegance, functionality and historical charm. Its proportions, materials and refined construction make it ideal for a sophisticated living room, dining room or entrance hall.
