Description:
Oil on canvas painting, French school, measuring 83 x 100 cm without frame and 99 x 126 cm with frame, depicting nymphs in water from the mid-18th century.
The composition is very versatile and intelligently calibrated in its colors, especially in the continuous contrasts between very light and slightly darker areas, where the artist's extraordinary versatility is evident due to both a classical education derived from studying the great masters through copying plaster models and prints, and an unbridled passion for color and the ethereal, as seen in the strong chromatic impact on the canvas through a clear preference for drawing, which reveals both the richness of detail and a very methodical and rational arrangement of each individual character or object. This canvas shows how the painter has adopted the luminism typical of the great French artists he studied and rearranged it in a completely personal way.
